2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Rough Shifting

My Jeep has 71,000 miles on it. Every so often I have noticed that when it downshifts from 8th gear to 7th gear, the shifting is rough. It doesn’t do it when it down shifts in any of the other gears. I have never noticed it shift rough from from 7th gear to 8th gear. I’m hesitant to bring it to the dealer because I can’t find a pattern to when it happens (going up hill, transmissions temperature, etc) and they probably won’t be able to duplicate it. Has anyone else ever experienced the same issue or know what’s causing it?

Hi dverr,
We're sorry to hear about your transmission concern. We certainly understand your hesitation in visiting the dealer. However, should you change your mind, please feel free to send us a PM.

Mine does it once in a blue moon when I'm accelerating a bit harder than normal, like if I'm passing someone. I'd say one out of 10 times. Doesn't seem to matter if it's warm or cold, wet or dry.
No idea what causes it but other than feeling a bit rough at that time I don't give it much of a thought as long as everything else stays normal and it doesn't throw a code.

Don’t you have 2-1 rough shift? Just wondering because my 19’ is like that.

It is very slight if it happens. My parents have a ‘16 Grand Cherokee and I notice what you’re referring to more on theirs than mine. That wouldn’t bother me. What my Jeep does is more of a jolt into 7th...
