Talking Navy show of force! Kinda long

I miss getting to see and play in these dog and pony shows!

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates --The U.S. Navy staged its latest show of military force off the Iranian coastline on Wednesday, sending two aircraft carriers and landing ships packed with 17,000 U.S. Marines and sailors to carry out unannounced exercises in the Persian Gulf.

The carrier strike groups led by the USS John C. Stennis and USS Nimitz were joined by the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard and its own strike group, which includes landing ships carrying members of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

The Navy said nine U.S. warships passed through the narrow Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday. Merchant ships passing through the busy strait carry two-fifths of the world's oil exports.

Aircraft aboard the two carriers and the Bonhomme Richard were to conduct air training while the ships ran submarine, mine and other exercises.

The maneuvers came just two months after a previous exercise in March when two U.S. carrier groups carried out two days of air and sea maneuvers off the Iranian coast.

Before the arrival of the Bonhomme Richard strike group, the Navy maintained around 20,000 U.S personnel at sea in the Gulf and neighboring waters.

That doesn't look like the gulf.... You could never see more than a few miles away because of all the excess oil that was burning off the rigs. This does...

This place ain't that great and if Iran decides to come across the Gulf the Navy better step up and stop them before they get to where I'm at! or at least give us enough time to scramble the bombers to bomb the **** out of them.

That is a small operation compared to Operation Valiant Shield.

Valiant Shield was a large war game conducted by the United States military in the Pacific Ocean in June 2006. The exercise began on 19 June 2006 and lasted for five days, concluding on 24 June 2006. According to the Navy, Valiant Shield focused on cooperation between military branches and on the detection, tracking, and engagement of units at sea, in the air, and on land in response to a wide range of missions.[1] The exercise involved 22,000 personnel, 280 aircraft, and thirty ships, including the supercarriers USS Kitty Hawk, USS Abraham Lincoln, and USS Ronald Reagan. It was the largest military exercise to be conducted by the United States in Pacific waters since the Vietnam War, and it was also the first time observers from the People's Republic of China were allowed to view U.S. wargames. The exercise marked the first of what will become biennial exercises involving different branches of the U.S. military.

The best part is, after your stint in hell is over, you have some great stories to tell. I hated it when I was there (the Middle East), but, now I'm happy I went.

Oil prices are up again. Today it is because people are tense due to the show of force. Exxon thanks the Navy for the price supports.

1st one- 1989 Cherokee Laredo. 12 great years
2nd one- 2001 Cherokee Limited. Got it before they were gone.
