Replaced front caliper pistons and seals, brake fluid, brake pads, grinded a little bit the front rotors, rear pads, and rotors were ok, so no work on them!!!

Wondering if those "heavy duty" rotors offered in Rock Auto by Raybestos are worth the purchase?

Or stick on OEM, mine are in the last measurement....

TIPM Maintenance

Getting ready to head south to the Texas coast for the winter, so several weeks ago I pulled the '08 Liberty's TIPM module, disconnected the wiring blocks, and spread a light coat of dielectric grease across the individual harness block contacts. No issues after reconnecting the wiring blocks and performing the reset steps. Anything I can do to prevent corrosion in/around the fuse block from the salt air should make the trip more rewarding.

Spent 12 hours last week installing a hitch. Suspension bolt snapped, only one I had to remove. Drilled for hours and tried screw extractor. Took it to a local garage and they mounted the hitch and welded in on for 60 bucks. Hunted today in 6 inches of fresh snow on mountain roads. My liberty likes snow. Didn't spin a wheel with 20 inch rims and we were the 1st on the state game road after it snowed

Finally got the ATH roof rack installed! It is extremely stable and well made. Very happy with it.

More Maintenance...

Hello There!!!

Well, finally my left front hub got to it's final moments.... with only 152k miles, on the ODO.

Ordered from Rock Auto both front hubs, and both front brake Rotors, they coming down to Costa Rica, in the slowest cheapest way, ( airmail would be a Killer due to the weight ), so now I'm driving the Liberty with the characteristic grinding noise of the hub getting dead... So until the last days of February / first week of March, I'll have to be easy on the driving, only for it's strictly required and low speed.

I'll post pictures when I finally get the parts and hands down to it....

Timken Hubs, and Raybestos "Performance" rotors....

Regards,

About to try and drill out a rusty broken bolt in the frame rail.

This broke off when removing my rock sliders for powder coating. Now theyre done and Id like to get them back on. This time I have stainless hardware.

I have a set of cobalt reverse drill bits for this grade 8 bolt. I also have an easy-out, though I hesitate to use it for fear it breaks off in the hole. Does anyone have any tips for drilling out rusted bolts like this. Lots of WD-40, obviously.

Frame nuts suck. Broke one when installing a hitch and had to have it the hitch welded as a support frame attached to it. Attempted 12 hours of drilling and an easy out. Can you get to the back of it at all? If. It your in for a ride to fix it. Is there any access holes you can fish a nut through? All the rest of my frame nuts looked good but still needed taps ran through them a few tines.

It only sticks out about 1/16. I cant get a set of locking plyers to grab on to it... and there is no rear access. It sticks out enough that I can tap it with a hammer and maybe break up some of the rust holding the threads in place. Im hoping the drilling makes it hot enough to break it free also.
