How to silence Remote start horn beeps….

Does anyone know how I can silence the two short horn beeps when hitting the remote start feature twice. It’s a factory remote start. Thanks Jim

Unless it can be done with a scan tool or some other procedure, you would need to physically cut the horn wire. As I have yanked endless stupid alarms out of cars I can tell you that the wiring for these is pretty complicated. You would need the factory wiring diagram to find which wire it is that goes from the alarm/remote module to the horn. Then terminate that. How do you feel about diving into the wiring harnesses?

There is a setting somewhere, do you have a touch screen radio?

I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory;

I turned mine off under "settings" in the instruments panel menu. If I remember right you turn off the horn beep for the door lock and that also disables the horn when remote starting.

That sounds like it would be so simple, I’ve searched but can’t even find the information on how to do that. Any ideas where to look? Thanks

I think the owners manual has words like this for the remote unlock/lock. May be similar for the remote start, good luck:

For vehicles equipped with the EVIC, refer to “Sound Horn with Lock,” under “Personal Settings (Customer-Programmable Features),” under “Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC)” in Section 4.

• For vehicles not equipped with the EVIC, perform the following steps:
1. Perform this operation while standing outside the vehicle.
2. Press the LOCK button on a programmed RKE transmitter for at least 4 seconds, but no longer than 10 seconds. Then, press the PANIC button while still holding the LOCK button.
3. Release both buttons at the same time.
4. Test the feature while outside of the vehicle by pressing the LOCK button on the RKE transmitter with the ignition switch in the LOCK position and the key removed.
5. Repeat these steps if you want to return this feature to its previous setting. NOTE: Pressing the LOCK button on the RKE transmitter while you are in the vehicle will activate the Vehicle Security Alarm. Opening a door with the Vehicle Security Alarm activated will cause the alarm to sound. Press the UNLOCK button to deactivate the Vehicle Security Alarm."

Good for you! Mine doesn't have that feature. We can't even access the TPMS from the INFO button.I guess we got the stupid version. Any guesses on how to do it without the EVIC?

The steps I posted are for those Jeeps without a EVIC or touchscreen. For those you scroll through the menus and find the setting. Otherwise you should be able to disable the chirp via the FOB (AKA RKE).
