Head Gasket Replacement

Hello Everyone,

I have a friend with a 2012 liberty 3.7 that is displaying all of the classic head gasket failure symptoms. I'm mechanically inclined but not worked on to many Jeeps. I've done heads before, but again not on a Jeep. Does anyone have a write-up for this vehicle? I've not been able to find one.

Also, anything else that should be replaced with it? Water pump? Timing chain guides, tensioner, intake gaskets, etc?

Cheers,

Andrew

I haven't seen one for the KK, but there are head gasket threads out there for the KJ. They use the same 3.7L engine, with only a few differences. Start here, and follow the links in Post #3 for some more detailed information.

Thanks for the info. Looks relatively simple. Do I need a special tool for anything?

Also, is there anyway to tell if there are problems with valves or seats before removing the head and taking it to the shop to receive a much larger than expected bill?
