Which oil ?

Howdy to you guys and gals.
I have a 2003 Liberty with 135,000 mi. It has a slight leak underneath because it drops on a cardboard I have under it. I can't see where it is coming from because of all the cross members and transfer case etc. I use 10w 30 but was wondering if I could use 10w 40 here in the summer here in N.J. and maybe it would stop leaking. I add 1qt. a month.
Thank y'all for your thoughts.
God Bless.

5w-30 for winter, 10w30 or 10w40 for summer. There is no magic goo or special potion for oil leaks. Check the valve cover for loose bolts.

Rear valve cover gaskets tend to leak but could be your rear main seal too. Thicker oil won’t change leaking. I run 5w-30 year round.

I just bought a used 2004 Liberty 3.7L V6 w/ 123k mi and promptly chg'd the oil and filter. Now, from my XJ and WJ, I'm used to the filter dripping oil everywhere.

But, WOW! shortly after starting the KJ, massive clouds of blue smoke until it burned off!?!?!?!! Any hints as to reducing this? Tanx in advance!!

The best oil is listed right on the oil filler cap.

Remove the filter from underneath and the front. That’ll minimize the amount of oil that gets spilled.
