Liberty front driveshaft boots .

2005 3.7 Liberty . I ordered new boots for both ends of the front driveshaft . Both joints were still full of grease , tight & didn't appear worn . I replaced the boot on the transfer case end , no problem . On the differential end the joint came apart & the 6 bearings fell out .
I replaced the boot & got the joint all back together but it wouldn't slide back & forth on the bearings like it's supposed to . I'm stumped , anyone have one of these apart & have any idea what the problem is ?

The grease has a tendency to create a vacuum on the inside. Does it swivel back and fourth? If it swivels it should be fine.

Usually what I have found on that style of joint, is that it was reassembled wrong, not allowing it to plunge in and out. If the boots were split open, allowing dirt in at all, I would have changed the joints. Now there are those who pay attention and replace the boots when they just start to crack though. Nope, not me, I need to do the rear joint lol
