05 KJ Documentation

I recently bought a 05 KJ for my son. I've been trying to find more documentation. I've done the searches for the build sheet, but they all say "No data available". I searched for a sales brochure from 05, but all I find in 04 and 06. The reason I'm looking is they sold it as a Renegade, but it doesn't look like one to me. It has the body color flares and bumper covers like a limited, but a pretty base looking interior. No fog lights but it does have a sun roof. It does not say Sport, Renegade or Limited anywhere on it.

Overall, we are very happy with it, but I want to know what we have. Maybe I just need to go to the dealer and get a build sheet.

Any leads to more documentation would be appreciated.

The tall tale sign you have a 2005-2007 Renegade is the flat hood. It won't have the bulges over the headlights. Keep trying the RAM link for VIN. I posted an example. The 2006 Liberty brochure would be close to your 2005. Sunroofs were optional on all models.

I tried the FCA community ram link and got a "no records found" message. There are no headlight bulges in the hood, but that just seemed to be the slight body style change for 05 along with the revised grille. The lower front facia does not look like the Renegade in the allpar link. I wish I could post a photo, but I'm having difficulty figuring out how.

I did find something on the Mopar site you listed. It says something about a "Rocky Mountain Edition Package". But no details were listed as to what that means.

I did a little searching on the Rocky Mountain Edition and found that it's based on the Renegade X model, but has all the odd features ours has that are different from the Renegade. The only items in the package we seem to be missing are the badge and spare tire cover.

So in essence it is a Renegade, but it's also the Rocky Mountain Edition. Now to see if I can get the badge and maybe a spare tire cover.

Yes. You indeed scored a RME. Take care of that thing. They had no fogs, body color arches, and those wheels. You can order the badges at go in the center console and body. Someone took them as souvenirs I'm sure. I use the Escape Gear cover with zipper pocket. They are dirt cheap and made with tough canvas. I got a gray one, but it faded to a grayish khaki color in the desert sun. The Jeep hard cover is nice, but cost way too much money for me. I also took the tarp ringlet kit from Harbor Freight and punched two grommets on the cover so I could I secure the cover with paracord and slow up thieves from taking it.

Found the badge for the rear gate at Vintage parts inc. vpartsinc.com. I called the dealer but Mopar no longer sells it, no surprise. What was a surprise, the dealer put me on to vintage parts and even gave me the phone number. Should be here sometime next week.

I usually just use eBay for bits like badges.

I have had good and bad experiences with eBay. Sometimes I get great deals on exactly what I wanted. Sometimes what I get is not what I thought it was.
