What kind of damage does hooking up a battery backwards do?
I've got a 1997 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo 4wd I6 that died and wouldn't start back one day. I was playing around changing parts and long story short I wanted to swap the battery and when I did I hooked it up backwards by accident. It sparked so I got it off and the next day my boyfriend hooked the original battery back up the right way and when he did there was even more sparks and smoke and basically I'm just trying to figure out how bad I screwed up. I found out the original problem was the computer had gone bad, so now I need to know if this jeep is worth trying to fix or if it's totally fried.
