Jeep Information

I have a 1990 jeep Cherokee 4.0 and yesterday I was driving to work. Sitting at 65mph around 2k rpm, then RANDOMLY with no added throttle pressure or change of anything, it’ll start to spike up in rpm, to around like 4500rpm and I will decrease in speed. So I let off the gas. Until around 2k rpm again, then I’ll add pressure to the throttle again and it will rev up the rpm again, it usually takes around 10-30 seconds to actually start working normally again, and it did it around 10-30 times in a 30 minute drive. Could that be my tps sensor? Or is it something else?
