#1 3/4 roll was in a 5 ton dump truck. My boss sent me to dump a load into a huge ravine. The ground turned out to be unstable and the truck started to slide. I held the brakes and dumped the clutch in low. The engine slightly pulled me forward then the truck lost traction and slid fast backwards 45 feet. The truck hit a huge birch tree centered on the tailgate and the truck did an endo until the tree fell over backwards to about 75 degrees where it stopped. I hit my head on the back window enough to crack the window. (5 tons of gravel tends to make the truck tip really fast backwards.) I stood on the inside of the cab, I climbed out of the window of the truck and hung from the step about 12 feet in the air, I then climbed my way up/ down the bottom of the truck to the ground. I climbed the hill and cought a ride with an old lady back to the boss. He was POd until I showed him how the ground broke loose, and then he realized it was his fault. I was not too close, but the ground broke away on me. I threw up a bunch of times from the head trama and had a cat scan. Proved I actually had a brain. I was OK. SCARY! If the tree wasn't there I would not be here, 5 tons of gravel would have killed me if I had endoed all the way probably 3-4 times to the bottom of the ravine. I need no more of those!

#2 I was a rider in a LARGE old chevy van when it went out of control on ice. (in MN) in the winter. We then got rear-ended by a truck- (chevy too) and really slowly rolled into a ditch. We were fully upside down and hanging from our seatbelts. The van was facing the ditch and the rear end was partly up the hill. It is REALLY hard to get out of your seat belts! Then after we all sort of fell onto the roof, now the floor, we opened the drivers door and crawled out. Only one person was slightly injured. After we climbed out and realized what had really happened then we all got really shaky. Terrible feeling in my stomache, again, thought about what could have happened, that is a big feeling. Then just couldn't bring ourselves to ride in any vehicle for quite a while. I walked back to where we were staying. You really don't feel like driving OR riding at all. I hope I never have to experience that again. My jeep will stay right side up! NEVER ROLL DOWN A STEEP HILL, believe me!

Ours wasn't as spectacular as the some of the others. I pulled up on a rock that was taller than I thought. We only rolled on our side, not upside down. There was nothing slow motion about it. It happened real fast. My wife was video tapeing the trail at the time and it took less than 3 seconds from the time we started up the rock until we were on our side.
Damage was a dent in hood and front fender, small dents in the side and door, broken windshield and destroyed frame, and a broken motor mount.
Now, I ALWAYS fasten my seat belts when I'm in my Jeep and have fire extinguishers easily accessable. We didn't have any fire but there was a strong smell of gasoline and fire was a real fear.

I've flopped mine on the left side, couple of dings.

My buddy just barrel rolled his YJ 3 3/4 times down a hill. Winched him over to complete the fourth roll, put spares on for the two tires that were blown off the bead, removed the windshield and frame, (rolled it up in a tarp and threw it in the back), started it up, drove it home!

The Jeep is a little tattered, but really only needs a new windshield and frame, and a roll cage. My buddy had the stock early YJ roll hoop, the main bar saved their lives, it held up real well. Full 6 point cage is the next mod for him, and should be high on the priority list for anyone that doesn't have one.

I roll my 80 cj7 4 months after I got it new. I never forget me and the guys 4 of us decide to go out and roll my two times a very slow roll almost stayed on its wheels after the first, BUTTTT it didn't it roll one more time and landed on its wheels not to much damage, what a sick feeling, popped out window, it has full roll cage and some damage to the hood and door no blow out tires, got out look at it check for leaks and it started right up. Later that night after i took it the wash and cleaned it up, it rain that night really hard winds knock a tree over and hit my jeep and my bother car, only damage was in the area of the roll luck out and ins. payed HOPE TO NEVER DO IT AGAIN! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

It's probably not exactailly the same but I rolled my '85 Honda Odyssey (it's an atv, it's like a mini sand-rail) but I was in a nice dry field, went to turn but I took it too sharp. I remember thinking "oh *****" as my right 2 tires came up off the ground and I passed the "point of no return". I don't remember seeing anything as a rolled, I probably just shut my eyes, but as I was rolling (I rolled 2 1/2 times)I remember thinking, "This is really going to hurt, a lot" but luckly the Odyssey has a full roll cage and that's when I started thinking "I'm not hurting, this is almost fun." As soon as it stopped I was still strapped in (it had a 4pt harness) I was upside down and that was the most disorienting situation that I've ever been in because gravity's pulling "up" and everything's "down". I wasn't hurt and it was easy to get the odyssey on it's wheels again but it's deffentely an experice I'll never forget.

There's my 2 cents

I know of some crazy types that actually TRY to roll their odysseys. They have roll competitions where they roll as fast as possible as many as they can. I haven't heard of them getting hurt. To me, having rolled once and been rolled as a passenger once my primary thing is not to roll! I think thats crazy, but if you have to roll the odyssey is THE vehicle to roll over.

I also know a family of 4 that got 1/4'd by a good size truck and did two side/endos in their CJ. They had the standard CJ roll bar and the only thing that happened was they got some glass on them from the windshield. What did they do? Went right out and bought another Jeep as the second vehicle and insurance fixed their CJ, now all they drive are jeeps! If you get hit THAT hard and roll THAT hard and nobody even gets hurt you must have a great vehicle! Another testament to the vehicle we all know and love.
