Sand Hollow/Hurricane Utah

Next month bunch of the our clubs members will be there. Some are leading some trails in the event for the winter fest, some will be there early to run them before the HUGE event. Im going on the 8th a week before the event to run some trails with a few club members. Never been there so a new experience. Been to Moab a few times. Its only about 4 hours from my door. One thing about living here some great wheeling everywhere around me.

Anyone been there? Have some trail beta?

I did a Canaan Mountain trail run years ago which is not too far from Hurricane, UT.

We ended up near Zion National Park on seriously old unmarked US forestry trails. We used USGS topo maps to find our way around to some historic landmarks.

Hopefully you won’t need Matt’s off-road recovery services. He’s a YouTube star. See this rig, wave!

hopefully not, but we have more then a few buggies going from our club as well, we tend to leave no one behind. I pack axles, steering box other bits and tools. 2 members will be trail leaders in the event but we will be out of there before that. Me not into crowds. Ran Rubicon in june with snow solo was ghost at the springs< very cool had the lower river camp and slabs to our self . and then ran Dusy solo as well.

Ill be following the pre runs and perhaps do a bit of recon of the area time permits. New place for us. the "new Maob" but 4 hours closer. its only 4ish hours to get there so will replace Moab it looks like for us since its 8.5 to moab from my door. Last time i was near there was to pick up the wifes truck we bought in Saint George.

Buggy guys will love Sand Hollow. Way better than Moab for buggies. It's all open riding in the state park so if you see something you want to drive on you can do it.

The best map available is on the Dixie 4 wheel drive site. It has the more popular trails but things change all the time there.

We'll be at the Winter Jamboree in Jan. It is one of our favorite events.
