I was wondering if any one has ventured out and gotten the VR and how is it holding up compared to the M8000

I just ordered the VR8000 from gowarn.com. They had it discounted to $427.19 with free shipping and Warn has a $50 rebate so the total net cost will be $377.19.

I'm running the VR 10k. Only used it once, no issues. Can't comment on longevity or anything, but the pull I did was a decent longer pull.

I recently purchased the M8000, due to proven quality, that is PROVEN & TRUE

Finally following up on this... I've used my VR8000 several times with absolutely no issues. This is my first winch so I have nothing to compare it to but I'm very pleased with the quality and value.

OK, I know it was back in July but where did oyu get the M8000 for $540?

Has the VR had enough time to be trusted yet? The price with the synthetic rope isn't looking bad.

I ask the question a few days ago about the differences between the VR and the M.

The reply I got was that the M series is a little heavier duty, designed for long pulls. The VR is designed for short pulls.

I called Warn and one of their guys pretty much said the same thing, though he tried to use a lot of technical terms to make them sound even.

Personally I view it like this. I'm buying the winch for a reason. It's not a decoration. I'd rather have the ability to do long sustained pulls and not need it than need it and not have it. I ordered the M8000.
