A better/easier chalk test?

We know that street tire pressure is usually different, lower, for larger tough tires on lighter weight vehicles. The usually suggested procedure to fine the best street pressure is to draw a chalk line across the tread, drive a bit, and see how much of the chalk is worn/left. I don't have chalk, but I have newer tires so I thought of a new test.

In the garage, I sprayed water onto the floor in front of both a front and rear tire, then rolled the Jeep by hand over and back to get the tire wet. The tires clearly picked up water where it contacted the floor. It seems like an easy test to me and just as accurate as chalk. What do you think?

could rattle can them and see what wears? I think the trouble with any of these is how its read. since you could go to low and still look by chalk good. wonder if chalk would show the center ever cupped from to low? bet not. I tend to just do the math and add to it to be in a safe zone. Like my tires are D and they dont make these 37 in less. each is if i recall like 3200 pounds. I know my jeep is under around 5k Max psi is 55 I run 27 front 25 rear street. mainly off road as well so tires die from a rock or MOST times its from them Jumping cactus from hell. I have lost three do to that pin holes in side walls by the hundreds. But they are warrantied and it cost like 80 bucks to get a new one. so i dont ever wear a tire out in the end it seems. I have two right now that i could take in. Right now tires are melting was 121 yesterdays here 117 right now.
