4x2 In Sand?

Hey Jeep forums! I just picked up an 09 Wrangler yesterday. On my way home from the dealership, I was thinking to myself. Could I drive on a beach with this? I don't think the sand is like the super fine stuff, but after about a 8 inches or so, it starts getting a little tough. Any answers or advice would be great!

That is why he got such a good deal on it. saved a couple of thousand $ on it......

Of course that is why there are so many V-6 4.2 engines out there.

look for the "other" gear shift.......

Wow!!! As someone who as owned seven Jeep products I thought I knew Jeeps. I also never knew they made a Wrangler 4x2. -- Sacrilege.

I say make a statement to Fiat/Chrysler and douse it in gas and burn it right on the first spot it gets stuck on the beach... LOL...

you guys are being dicks yeah so what if he bought a non 4x4 jeep im pretty sure there are other models on these forums that have 2wd variants as well and are still jeeps. to attempt to answer your question though you should be ok if you air your tires down and follow the ruts of others but you wont be able to do anything to crazy

Wow lots of harsh words here. Congrats on the purchase, your biggest friend will be airing down the tires. That will let you float over the sand instead of digging in. Do all 4 front and back.

This. Also I know many guys who bought used 2WD and then converted them to 4WD. One of the magazine did an article years ago about this option costing a bit (OK a lot) more than a Rubicon bought much stronger.

It is for those "women" that live in the Burbs that never see snow or dirt other then in the parking lot at the kids soccer ball game. they will also add a lift to it and 33" tires, look for the rubicon sticker so that their kids thing that mom is cool and the neigbhors think she/he is the outdoorize type but will never camp in anything other then a hilton.

Not far south of me here in San Diego, Mexican vendors drive their 2 wheel drive beaters with balding street tires on the beach without problem. Air your tires down and don't use your brakes on the sand (always coast to a stop) and you should be fine.

When you have a choice, buy American made.
