Thought I better up-date the restoration of the CJ5. Bought a new never installed plastic gas tank off of craigslist last year for a 74 CJ5 at the cost of $50.00 shipped. Had to make brackets to hold the tank in place, but that was easy. That has brought the cost of the restoration up to $2165.00 out of pocket.
Installed a set of driving light's a few months ago. Damn, they're bright. Cost: Zero! A friend had them lying around. Said they would look good on my Jeep, so he gave them to me.

You did one incredible job creating a purpose-built Jeep on such a low budget! I am well and truly impressed. You have the skills and equipment to do what neither I nor my husband could ever do, so if we ever wanted something like this, I'm sure it would have cost us 4 or 5x that much!

Just curious: Why did you want/need the shortened bed? To keep the weight down? Some other reason? Inquiring minds want to know :-).

Beautiful jeep. I just read thru everything thing. That color is John Deere green? It looks a lot tamer in the pics.

The bed is not shortened. It's just a Half Cab on a CJ5 and I like the Half Cabs. My two dogs ride back there also. Yes it is John Deere Green.
