Jeep TJ fender question

My friend has a black TJ that needs a new fender. I know where to buy it and how to install them. Anywhere you look, the fender comes primed in a black color. My question is, does the fender need to be painted if the Jeep is black too? Would the black primed fender match the black Jeep TJ?

If not then how should I go about painting it?

If you want it to match you'll have to paint it. This could be anything from spray cans to a HVLP setup. I'd suggest youtube to get an idea of what painting method is going to be right for you.

You should always paint whatever you do because the primer will draw moisture and will start to rust plus the primer that it comes with is just a thin coating and not made to protect it for everyday use.

I think you can order factory paint in cans right?

I just replaced my fender on my '05 LJ that I bought with a damaged fender. I got the fender for $299 painted and shipped from eBay user painted_parts4u and was pleased with the experience. He owns a body shop in the Chicago area, and has excellent feedback, so I'm not the only one who's been happy with the results.
