Price: $190.00
Pros: Looked good at the start and performed ok.
Cons: They rust and performance is terrible after 3 years. Now they look terrible on my Jeep as they are rusted and when hitting bumps on the highway the Jeep becomes unstable.
Recommended? No

Comments: Mounted the BDS 5500 Series shocks in January of 2013. I was taken back with the rubber boots, as they would not fit over the tops of the rear shock and had make a small slice to get the boots over the shocks. Once mounted they looked fine on the jeep and performed ok.

Now 3 years latter, they are rusted and the performance of the shocks is terrible. When traveling down the road, it squeaks and sounds like a bucket of bolts. I now have slack in the rear lower shocks and the mounting bolts. We hit some construction on the highway and I had all I could do to keep the Jeep going straight, as my JK was all over the road at 50 MPH. The BDS 2" spring suspension is awesome, but the 5500 Series shocks are a bit disappointment. I have since removed the shocks from my JK and installed Fox Performance 2.0 shocks all the way around, what a difference. It is like driving a different JK. I know there is a big price difference between the 5500 and the FOX performance shocks, but it is well worth the difference and I don't have to worry about the rust issue going forward.

Pros: cheap
Cons: don't hold up or perform well
Recommended? No

Comments: in about 13 months these shocks completely failed. They were installed on my 98 zj with the bds 4.5 lift kit. only used the vehicle for on road use mostly being that the vehicle at this point is not ready for serious off road use (no power). the ride was never responsive to my likeing and i am one who can appretiate a stiff ride. just bought a set of bill stein 5100s, much better already.

Comments: Installed the shocks with my RE 3.5 inch lift. Install went well and I enjoy the ride on these shocks considerably more than stock. Would buy them again in a heartbeat.

Price: $55.00
Pros: cheap, reasonable ride quality
Cons: a bit harsh, and not as nice as others I have tried
Recommended? Yes

Comments: Solid performer, broke in well, ride is good if not a bit rough. Good offroad, but not as good as a higher end shock. But for 50.00 you cant go wrong.
