Yes, it's a good thing. My job the last couple years has been really, really cool but the company I work for doesn't know how to value people. I told them I was gone if they didn't pay me what I wanted and they thought I was bluffing. They didn't, so I left....Chrysler paid me what it took to get me to leave. Back to the auto industry I go.

Put in 130 hours over the past two weeks....this is the only thing the Jeep has been doing, aside from sitting in the garage.

Oh well, at least she looks good, right? I'll be up in Chicago this weekend if anyone wants to grab a beer.

Yeah, there's that....it drives so nice so I'm completely happy with it, that's a nice feeling. It's been a big hit at FCA with the Jeep guys.

Stop working so much, I need to come down to the badlands and get some more seat time in my 4runner.

Looking good. Good call on the job. Lots of work but at least you're getting what you're worth.

Thanks man.....I'll tell you what, I'm not sure getting what you're worth is worth it.

In all seriousness, it is kind of cool to work for this company. I just need to get my *** out of the production side of things.

what's wrong with the production side? Are you a mechanical engineer, wanting to get into design? I'm studying manufacturing in school right now and would love to hear some pros and cons of production design from someone with experience.

I grew up with family members in the auto industry so it pulled me that way. Always wanted to design cars, but had no artistic talent, so mechanical engineering.

Studio Design as an engineer is the big suck! Designer wants the work (none of which has to do with reality... like fitting people in the car, yeah "don't" need that) and the Body Teams are usually not willing (I've been surprised by a select few) to put in the effort to understand and implement the newest technologies that competitors are starting to use. Design Engineer (Studio Design Engineering) you're stuck in the middle, make neither side happy, and end up being the one to find a compromise (that no one is still "happy" with, but will get design as much of what they wanted), and then get no thank you or appreciation for getting the car to +/- 1mm. Then on to the next flaming tornado of a project.

Now that's only my experience from 6+ years for one of the big 3 with some cool projects that are now on the road (1 more coming soon). I got fed up and moved to vehicle/engine testing. Works better for me and my engineering brain. Black and White, does it work better or not? Plus I get to play with the cars Don't get me wrong, Spinning CAD was a sweet job and the problem solving was endless too, but just a different game to play.

Anyway, Still loving this build Connor. I have to come back and catchup/reread it every few months. So much goodness in here and still envy your rig!

I'm a process lead at a transmission assembly (948 9 speed auto) plant.

I'm looking for a black 2k12+ 2 door JK hard top if anyone nearby has a line on one.
