Definitely makes sense about doing the motor swap first then seeing what placement adjustments are needed for the axle. I also agree with the truss up front. I'll be tuning in to what happens next.

This is a fairly common failure. A truss will help but also weld all the way around the joint of the tube to the housing.

Welding the tubes to the center section causes a stress riser from HAZ. I donít think it would help in this case. I know people do it to keep tubes from spinning (I did it to my old 8.8), but it does induce a lot of stress in that area. There are axle builders that donít weld the tubes for that reason.
