Project $400 TJ

So I picked up a 2000 Jeep Wrangler TJ in California for 400 bucks! Well it wasn't that easy, I found this jeep on craigslist for $2000 with clean and clear title. They said it was rolled over and just needs new hood, fender, windshield/frame, and grill. So at the time I was thinking cool sound like a good deal send me some pictures. Well they emailed right back and said they would when they got home, few days later still nothing so I emailed them back and got the pictures.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Not to bad considering it was rolled over. They said there was no extreme tub damage other then the passenger side on the bottom. I offered them $1000 because I had to drive all the way from Las Vegas to damn near San Jose, CA. Now with gas prices the way they are that almost killed the deal. But I really wanted a jeep again. Well they came back at $1250 and I agreed. Then a few hours later they sent me a email saying someone just came and looked at it and is coming back with 2k. Sucks but o well I thought. Well the next day I get a email saying come get it they never showed up. So I had to wait a few days because of work and then I took off for my 9 hour drive one way by myself (girlfriend didn't like the idea of a all day drive) Well I got the tow dolly in town and headed to their house. I arrived and they were super nice, got the low down on it. Their son took the jeep out and hit a mud slide on the back road leading to their house and it took the jeep down a hill and flopped it. So they said it run and drives just need to charge the battery because it was sitting since thanks giving. I looked it over and there was more damage to the tub then they said, hood hinge mounts were bent back and one of the grill support rods punched a hole in the fire wall, but what killed me was the driver door that they said was perfect had damage to the top front corner. that they didn't see. Well my way of thinking was sell the door and make this a $750 jeep before i knew it was damaged. Then i found the same type of wrinkle in the tub on the drivers side as the passenger side had by the wheel well. So at this point I am ready to walk away and told them sorry to waste your time I just think this is to much work for me at this time. And they were sorry to because they didn't notice the damage. But the man was cool as hell and said well i respect the fact that you drove all the way from Vegas by yourself on 4 pictures of a rolled jeep, and ill give it to ya for $500. I refused and said sir i feel like i would be ripping you off and that's not what I want to do, and he said no $400 and ill load it up with you. So at this point having the tow dolly and everything I agreed and loaded it up to drive 9 hours back home.

More to come............

Looks like a good find! The tub looks undamaged, and if the frame is straight, you are good to go

My plans are to fix it to driveable and then go from there, not sure at this point if I will sell it for a profit or build it up for a DD trail rig. Either way it will get a 2-3" lift and 33's and probably flat fenders.

Sounds like a good start so far. Damn, I thought I had a lot of work to get my jeep back on the road again, but you sir take the cake. Good luck on the build, I look forward to seeing some updates.
