My Rubihara Build thread

You may have already seen her, but this will be my official build thread...Just sold my 94 YJ after a 7 yr build....

2005 Rubicon Sahara w 48K miles and both tops....... "Lucy".

So I've had her for 38 hrs and this is what I know...

Death wobble at 35-45 mph if I hit a pothole... Not too worried , gonna change just about every suspension component.

Lockers work but take forever to engage and disengage. PO NEVER used them or exercised them...

Plans, Already on order ..

3.5 " Rock Crawler x factor
JKS BL
1.25 Spacers
Black MOABS
and GY MTR Kevlars 315s.

After talking to a few people, I cancelled the RK kit this morning and ordered the Currie with the currie steering.

Once the lift is in, I'll order Bilstiens 5100s and a TW shaft rear, maybe front.

Also ordered:
new ball joints, just because i'll have the front end apart
front tube seals
Soild diff covers front and rear with lube locker gaskets
Brown Dog 1"MML

Hummer intake -already arrived. See my sig. similar to my YJ install.

Full fluid change all around...

Then:
Front rear bumpers , Dirtworx , jeeperman maybe
winch
AtoZ rockers
Corner armour
Herculined tub (I've no issues with it, lasted 5 yrs and going on my YJ)
Fenders tube ? we'll see whats needed after the lift.
Speedo correction.
Seat covers
Maybe seat swap. (I had 2001 Celica GTs seats in YJ and loved them)
Vented hood
Oil pan skid (home made)
Fuel tank skid
Belly up?
CJ mirrors
Go fer it DS flip
Steering box skid and brace

I think that's a good start for now!

And Obviously I need to do something about my screen name...

I would get 15" wheels and 35x12.50R15 MTRs. You'll have a more flexible sidewall and a better ride.

I'll catch flack for this, but I'd stick it in storage and keep it original. Those WILL be collectors items some day and fetch a premium!

I had a set of those wheels on my last XJ and wish I had kept them. Beautiful Jeep!

Clean LJ!

Do hang onto your Sahara items you remove.

I'm inclined to agree somewhat. Id put a 3 inch coil lift on it with some 33s and spacers on stock wheels and keep it as weekend cruiser and car show queen. Then buy and old tj or yj and wheel the piss out if it. That jeep is rare. But hey, it's ur jeep. Enjoy it how u want to!!!

It is just a jeep. It will never have "considerable" value.
It might b worth slightly more to a jeep guy, thats it.
Its a loaded rubicon lj. Do what ever u want to it.

X2! Just based on a Jeep in a really bad movie. Don't get me wrong, I love mine... but it's no garage queen.

As much as I would like to, really not a fan of too many 15" rims, as much as I like the black Moabs.... So I'm stuck with 16"s...
