I've got a good video of you as well. I'll post that up sometime today.

Well, gents. All did not go well.

Smooth ride up, met up on time at the meeting place, got to the trail head, did the first access roads and all that, mapping worked out perfectly and we never had to turn around or anything, did a few obstacles, and on the way to the hard stuff (that I really was looking forward to) I was going down an incline and the brake pedal went to the floor. If I double-pumped it I could build up enough pressure to stop, but upon checking it, Clayton saw that the threaded fitting from the hard line was leaking at the driver's front corner. After re-tightening, it was still leaking. Not having thread tape or a new hard line, I parked the Jeep in a clearing where a few of the roads came together with a sign that said:

"Brakes are busted. Please don't steal it, I don't think you'll get far. Be back soon."

So I rode shotgun between a few of the rigs and snapped some photos that I'll edit and post up. When we were done, I drove the rig 15 or so miles to the nearest Advanced Auto to get a new brake line. Topher, a new member in the club, followed behind me by about 500' just to ensure that nobody rode my *** in case I couldn't stop/downshift in time. We made it there OK and replaced the line for $3, did a pretty ghetto brake bleed (thank god it was the closest line to the reservoir) and made it the hour and a half drive home on 2/495/93 without issue doing about 75.

So. That was that. Extremely disappointing.

Well that's a bummer. So did you do the rest of the run riding shotgun, or did the group stop when you lost your brakes?

Shotty the rest of the time. Parked the Jeep for 4 hours.

Well, at least there's that.

You had already done this run, and the rest of the group at least got to try it.

More or less difficult than OFR? (Certainly not as mentally taxing, I'm sure, ha ha)

This is the last time I ever go out without my dSLR rig. Point and shoots just don't do it for me.

Ugh. So jealous.

Wishwishwish I could still be wheeling with you guys. That trail looks amazing.

Bought a backup dSLR the other day so I don't have to take my expensive camera rig on the trails... Also scouted a run for the NSJ group today with amills and his TJ.

Flex was awesome, the 35s were stuffed in the rear but I had 1/2" or so left before the front driver's rubbed.
