Kbars build...(05 sahara-rubicon)

Well I have been wanting to start this build thread for a while, just havent had much time lately. I am a senior in mechanical engineering at UC (cincinnati) and I was finally able to get the jeep I wanted. I was fortunate enough to land a very good job for co-op and for full time employment once school in done in June. So for the next couple of months the jeep build will be faiely slow until I buy a house and get my feet under me then I will be going full tilt to finish the jeep to my liking.

Last September I sold my TJ to upgrade to an LJ, at the time I didnt not think I would be fortunate enough to find a rubihara, I was looking for a green or white LJ rubi. Anyways here is my old TJ, which i still get to see on a regular basis as I had sold it to a good friend of mine.

After a month or so of searching I found my current ride...an 05 LJ Sahara-Rubicon with only 47k on the odometer. The jeep was mint and very very clean so I jumped on it. Here it is the day i got her home.

The first thing I did was de-chrome and swap over my parts from the TJ that I was able to keep.

painted bezels to match:

painted the HID's to match also, sick of the red:

You can get paint spar cans made if you bring your paint code to smyth automotive for you local guys, fairely cheap, 20 bucks or so for the can , i still have over half a can left.

as she sits not, all de-chromes with the garvin wilderness rear bumper, spridertrax, Hi-lift, ORO tail lights, license plate relocator. Luckily the weather eased up and I was able to get the jeep clean, it finally for somewhat warm and stopped snowing...

I do have some parts on order. I am waiting on my Currie HD steering system as well as riddler diff covers. Next on the agenda is the install my currie 1" motor mount lift and order/install a 1" body lift in preperation for the 315 MTR kevlars. I am also considering an onboard air system, I think i will use this compressor and do something custom for a tank on the jeep, havent thought that far ahead yet: http://www.amazon.com/Industries-MV50-SuperFlow-Hi--Compressor/dp/B000BM8RT8/ref=sr_1_6?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1297567446&sr=1-6
Its the same compressor Jeffro06 is using in his build. Once all this is complete I will be done modding the jeep until late summer. In the meantime I need to finish my capstone design project, graduate, buy a house and start my new job lol, also I am getting married in October, so this is going to be a BUSY year to say the least. You may ask, why in the F are you getting married, well besides the fact that she is awesome in every way and I love her, she FULLY supports my jeep modding and loves to go wheelin, esp to the badlands, she even goes as far as to buy me stuff for me jeep, so......lol.

ON a side note for anyone who is interested, my senior design project is a offroad/utility/camping trailer. Its sounds lame to most people, atleast at school, but I wanted something that I could use in my personal life, not something ill never use/see again, and it just so happens I just sold my utility trailer I use to haul my quad around behind the jeep. The idea was to have something that is tough and can be used for more than just camping, which seems to be the majority use/design of the after market off-road style trailers. But I want be able to haul my quad, kayaks, camp, use to haul wood, basically anything I can think of. SO here is what the trailer is looking like so far, I have an attachment which is basically like a ladder bar set up for a cintruction truck that would be intstalled when I want to go camping, it hasanother attachment that works with it to hold my kayaks at the same time also. The is the initial design, I am in the process of redesigning the frame/tongue. THis go aorund the tongue will be removable, as well as foldable for storage/security.

I like the trailer. I've been thinking of building one too. It's a nice tool to have for the jeep.

Rig looks nice. Your rear axle could use a little pushing back, though.

OlllllllO
