Well I guess this is happening. As much as I donít want to do the work, it makes the most sense to fix all the tub damage. Plus my tub had plenty of rust and other issues before the roll.

Picked this thing up today for $375. It has one small rust spot above the rear passenger opening and one dent on the passenger side rocker. He cut two of the heads off the bolts for the two body mounts in the middle. Other than that it is in perfect shape, so well worth the price and the work.

The opening above the rear wheel is gonna get cut out for larger wheel openings anyway and the dent is gonna get covered by my rocker guards. Iíll weld a couple bolts to the seized body mounts and pull them out.

Gonna prep this tub and get it ready to go over the next couple weeks. Monstaliner is on order for the inside of the tub and gonna repaint the firewall and underside of the tub, then knock out the swap over the weekend.

There is no doubt that this would be the perfect time for it. However, it has never been in my plans. Your rig is just nasty and looks great(and Im sure will wheel great), I have just always wanted to keep mine in stockish jeep form and prefer the stock length tub look.

Hey jmart. Was glancing through your thread. I need to read it through. Good job man! Louvres aren't for me (not mine) but otherwise I like. Is the coupler at the bumper lead from on-board compressor or nitrogen tank? Whichever, where did you install it? That's awesome.

Thanks. It is for OBA. The tank is mounted on the underside of the tub.

Making some slow progress on the tub. Just working on it a couple hours at night after work and on the weekends when time allows.

I got all the stock wiring harness, flares, stock side steps, tailgate and windshield hinges (did I mention I hate torx heads) and firewall items stripped off the tub and firewall:

img_6405.jpg

img_6407.jpg

There was some surface rust and pitting in the drivers side floor pan so I hit it with a wire wheel and Iíll spray it with some rust inhibitor:

img_6406.jpg

Went out and pulled my tcase shifter so I could measure the opening for it and got that marked and cut out:

img_6732.jpg

img_6738.jpg

As well as the fuel pump access cutout:

img_6733.jpg

img_6737.jpg

Then borrowed my buddies pressure washer and got all of the dirt, grime and grease blasted out of the tub:

This thing has so many holes drilled in from the PO and from the stock side steps:

Both rear fender tops look like this:

img_6743.jpg

He had a ton of footman loops installed in it and the holes for the stock side steps:

img_6745.jpg

img_6744.jpg

img_6746.jpg

I decided I donít want all of these holes in it so I figure it was time to invest in a MIG welder so I ordered up a Hobart Handler 140 and it showed up yesterday. They were running a rebate for Fatherís Day for a free cart with it so once that comes in, I will be all set.

img_6730.jpg

img_6740.jpg

So the next step is to go down and get some .024 wire and C25 gas so I can get all these holes welded up.

Then itís on to tub prep and Monstaliner install, then Iíll get to work on the underside of it, then to swapping it onto the frame.

Looking good man. Sucks that you have to resort to a tub swap but at least everything will be nice and square. 6 points of frame tie in will be pretty high on the list eh?

Yeah, its gonna be part of the tub swap. I don't plan on the jeep seeing any trails until the frame tie ins are installed. While none of this is hard work, it's very tedious and time consuming and I do not want to be doing this again anywhere in the near future and hopefully not ever.

Picked up some gas and put the new Hobart to use. Got all the holes welded up.

img_7012.jpg

Then I got all of the surface rust out of the floor pans and hit those and the filled holes with rust inhibitor.

And finally started the transformation back to black. Got the firewall and side panels shot with black.

I am out of town for work this week but next weekend, itís time to prep the tub and lay out the Monstaliner.

Then itís time to paint the firewall and flip her over to get the underside ready. Getting closer to tub swap time.
