I bolted in mine and had 0 brake issue, but i may do a better MC just for a heavy stop power. I hear less people having issue with it though.

How are you doing the gas tank lift???

How much room do you have with the stretch? I cant get pics to load right now :?

I like my YJ how I like my whiskey, on the rocks with just a touch of color!

Ya thats why I figured I would cross that path when I get there. Im hoping it will bolt in with no brake issues.

I am cutting an inch off the skid plate on both sides and rewelding the flange back on. It will lift the tank up about an inch or so which should give me enough clearance from the pumpkin. You can only do that if you have a body lift just fyi.

I have about 3 1/2inches in the wheel well with my 31's and the stretch. I will have to do major cutting once I go to 35's but I was already planning on that anyway lol. I'm not sure about the clearance at the gas tank because its not back in yet.

Thanks for reposting that picture, I'm not sure how I missed that the first time. Good luck today...it looks like we might get dumped on a little north of you.

Ya it has been a super busy week. I would have been done by now if it hadn't rained so much. And unfortunately the next couple days don't look like its gonna let up any. I got hit with rain almost all day today. Lame. Its not sneaking up anymore, its coming on super fast lol. Im running out of time.

All I have to deal with is rain everyday, I can't imagine 12 degree weather. I wish I had a garage...

Today was a slow day. It was wet this morning so that meant no welding under the jeep. I had to tack the perches before I pulled out the 8.8. 4wheel parts called me and said they got my u-bolts in so I went down and picked them up.

When I got back, we had about 15 mins of dryness and sunshine so I climbed under the jeep and tacked the perches. I got the tubes welded and the perches burned in. I had to go to Ace to pick something up before they closed and I left the extension cord for the welder outside and of course it started raining, that was a stupid move :brick wall No more welding for the night, not trying to send 50 amps through my system lol

So I ended up painting the crossmember and calling it a night. I need to accomplish a lot tomorrow if I am gonna make it to Moab. Fingers crossed for good weather.

Just thought I'd throw this out there...I'm pretty free until Tuesday and not that far from Longmont (I think that's where you're working on this if I'm reading it right) if you think an extra set of hands would help you at all. Pretty sure the weather is going to suck again though...

I'll pm you my number just in case.

Thanks donk, If I don't make any progress today, i might take you up on that. If I can finish the 8.8 today and the tank lift, I should be good. All that leaves for tomorrow is exhaust and skid plate.

Got the gas tank lift done as well. Just didn't get a chance to test fit. Here is how you do it in case you are wondering.

Measure 1in down from each flange and mark a line:

Size: 110.8 KB

Cut both lines and you end up with these:

Name: 258.jpg
Views: 35
Size: 121.4 KB

And this:

Name: 259.jpg
Views: 35
Size: 119.8 KB

Clamp the cut piece to the skid with the flange flush at the top with the cut like this and prep for welding:

Name: 260.jpg
Views: 35
Size: 132.2 KB

Run small 1in beads spread out or you'll burn right through it:

Name: 261.jpg
Views: 35
Size: 153.0 KB

And you end up with this:

Name: 262.jpg
Views: 36
Size: 156.0 KB

This will lift up my tank another inch and should give me the needed clearance for the pumpkin with the small stretch. You can only do this if you have at least a 1in body lift. I will have to cut a small piece out of the crossmember and I will show that tomorrow.

So here is what I have left:
Exhaust mods to fit with new tranny crossmember
Skid plate mods to work with drivetrain
Finish gas tank lift
Install 8.8
Order driveshaft
And install this, came yesterday:

Size: 127.1 KB

I think I can have mostly everything close to buttoned up tomorrow and be ready for a test run tuesday evening after I get my driveshaft. Fingers crossed.
