Golden Eagle Alaskan Build Thread!

Hey Jeepers,

So back story from the TJ Technical Thread I had started:

I picked up a 2006 Jeep TJ Wrangler Golden Eagle Edition for my upcoming honeymoon in November. My Wife and I will be driving from Martinsville VA to Alaska via the ALCAN Highway, American-Canadian Highway, though we haven't specifically picked an endpoint yet. I've always wanted to drive that route and I'm really looking forward to doing the drive. Here is a quick picture of my 2006 Golden Eagle and my 2006 RHD Wrangler:

So it's an all stock, minus the stereo, TJ Wrangler, 4.0L, 42RLE Overdrive Automatic with NV231 transfer case, Dana 44 rear with 3.73 gears.

The stock 31" tires were slam worn out when I got, and the suspension had seen better days, and already know I'm going to get some much crap for this but oh well . I got new Moog Springs for all 4 corners, Rancho adjustable shocks, and I got 5x Goodyear Wrangler Radial 235/75r15 tires for it. Yes I put slightly smaller springs, and a smaller tire on it. WHY WOULD I DO THIS? It was cheaper than replacing the 31" tires and getting comparable springs and shocks. I got 5x new Goodyear Wrangler tires with shipping and tax for $264.25 total. Each tire ended up being $52.85. Also this isn't going to be my trail rig, oddly enough my RHD 2006 Wrangler is becoming my trail rig.

Okay *still dodging beer bottles and tools being thrown at me * End of !!!

Here is my list of upcoming upgrades and enhancements that I will documenting on my Golden Eagle!
  • Cruise Control and Wiring Harness Overlay
  • Derale Transmission Cooler
  • Rubber Floor Mats
  • Detroit Truetrac for the rear Dana 44
  • 24.5 GenRight Gallon Extended Gas Tank
  • GMRS and CB Radio (Might change, not sure)
  • Front and Rear Brakes
  • Front Tow Hitch
  • 9000lb Winch
  • External Spare Fuel
  • Upgraded Headlights and Taillights
  • DIY internal storage intergrated with rollbar

I'm also going to post where I get parts and for how much to keep track of how much all of this cost. I tend to try to get items used or "returned" items from Amazon to save on cost. I tested out the Goodyear Wrangler tires today in the snow here in VA and they did exceptionally well in my RHD TJ, however it does have an LSD in it which helps with traction, hence upgrading the Golden Eagle to a Truetrac setup.

Thanks Jeepers!

Enjoy the drive. It's beautiful. Toad river has a good buffalo burger and liard hot springs is a nice refresher from the drive. Good luck!
