VERY nice playground equipment! You need to add one of those plastic steering wheels and a lookout tower to really finish it all out!

Wow, really love it, again nice work!

Thanks guys! It should go in Tuesday night. Probably driveable Wednesday night finally.

Some good news! Getting my windshield replaced for free through my insurance company. Next one I do, I will place a sheet of plywood over the windshield & use more clamps to hold tubes in place. What happened was the upper windshield spreader slipped out & crashed down onto it.

Looks really good Dan. Are you going to make it to the March 29 Badlands run?

Probably not. That week before is spring break, so we might not be around & as much time as I've been spending in the shop I better build up my happy wife points. We'll see though.

Thanks guys!

I loved that avatar simply for the magnitude of creepiness. I will miss it.

Cage looks great man. I'm sorry if you mentioned this earlier but did you use Bendtech to design it or did you do it all without computer aid? Also what bender are you using and notcher? One more question….. how much DOM was that?

Yep, I used Bendtech. Was well worth the money for the two cages I've done from this design & hopefully I get to do a few more. It made life a whole lot easier! The notching templates are damn cool! I used them on every joint on my cage even if it was going in the notcher. I'd use it to visually position the tube. If it was a notch that wouldn't fit, I had nice lines to cut & grind to. It still took some test fitting, but not a whole lot.

I used a buddies bender. Home made one. Not the nicest bender out there, but it was adequate. No degree wheel on it, so I had to use my digital angle gauge. That was kind of a pain. I'm looking to buy my own bender not too far in the future. I'm considering Rogue Fab. It's a vertical rotary bender so it doesn't have to be bolted to the floor.

Notcher was a cheap *** Harbor Freight. It too was adequate. Had to make some mods to it right out of the box & all 3 bolts that lock the angle gauge in place have stripped out. Not a big deal I just need to drill through & use some longer bolts & nut the back sides. The brass bushings are getting a bit worn out after 2 cages worth of notching though & it's wobbling a bit. I don't have any idea what notcher I would buy next. JD2 maybe. A notcher is a convenience. You can notch just as good with a cut off wheel & a 40 grit flap wheel. Just takes a little longer.

There is just under 100' of 1 3/4" x .120 DOM in my cage.

With the help of a few great guys who drove over an hour to come help me put this thing in, it's in! Dash is in & steering wheel is in. Tonight's tasks consist of getting it bolted down at least at the B & C pillars & getting the seats & harnesses mounted & the center console back in. Then she'll be ready to drive. I'll need to remove my rockers to get the A pillars bolted down, but that'll wait until next week.

All is right with the world now. Drove the Jeep to work today. I still have some things to finalize on it, but it's road worthy. I need to remove my rock sliders to tie in the A pillars. Replace the stupid star bolts on the B pillars with some hex heads so I can really torque them down. I also need to get some new lap straps for my harnesses. When I bought them I didn't plan on doing seat mounts right away so the lap belts are eye bolted to the floor. If the cage would happen to separate from the tub in a roll, that would be mighty painful. I also have to move my seat back a little. It's mounted way too close. I drilled the brackets so I have some adjustment fore & aft, so that's no big deal, just a paint to get in there to bolt it up. When the cage comes out again, I may weld some nuts to the bottom of the brackets so I only need to squeeze one arm under the seat instead of two.

Jeep needs a bath, & preferably the new windshield, before I post pictures. I did however vacuum it out last night before I mounted the seats.
