Just registered over there. I could spend all day going through all of those write-ups. I think the interior swap is going to be the most difficult for me, since I am not necessarily a wiring guru. But the more I read up on it the better the chance I have at doing it successfully

Can you PLEASE!!!!!! stop posting pictures with that B-E-A-Utiful cummins in it, it makes me jealous everytime I see it.

Though gonna be a sweet rig when your done! I wouldn't flat bed it though, never know when you may need to haul stuff out of the trail...though if you bobbed it, it would look sick and have a good approach angle. Then you can do a dovetail...

Ok no more Cummins pics (for now)

But here's what I've gotten accomplished today.

All the parts in the back of the truck (if anyone needs rust free fenders/ grille assembly, bumper, radiator let me know)

A little rust that needs taken care of somepoint soon

We kind of had a little ramp boo-boo getting the comanche on the trailer the last time (not running motor + trying to push MJ onto trailer down a hill = a small dent)

Should be cleared up with a 2x6 rocker weld-in though

Motor should be the next thing to come out (hopefully this weekend)

Got a few things done today.

The motor and transmission have been pulled, it was much easier then I thought it would be. When you don't have to stop and take pictures of wiring harnesses and label every connection point, pulling a motor is much simpler.

I got the airbox and vacuum lines removed from the driver's side of the engine bay.

The passenger's side has been cleaned up too, including the blower motor.

Apparently at one point there was a mouse living in the blower motor because it was packed full of newspaper shavings and cotton material.

(That's after I cleaned most of it out)

Bye, bye old trusty 4cyl

Things aren't quite as much of a mess when there isn't any coolant in the block. But the transmission oil was so nasty and black it almost looked like motor oil.

Here's how she's going to sit until I can get the rest of the engine bay cleaned up, dash removed and the rest of the wiring torn out.

Quick update:

Today, I got the dash and all wiring pulled from the interior. Also pulled the driver's side door.

I also noticed some more rust underneath the padding behind the pedals, but it isn't too bad.

I also have a lead on an $800 - 1999 XJ with 242k on the clock, the owner is supposed to email me pictures of it soon, so well will see if we have donor vehicle in the next few weeks. Up till then, I am going to try and get some front floor pans ordered and get the rest of the engine bay washed up so I can get it painted up.

Looks fun man!

If it were mine, I would make it a 99 mj, for sure. Keep the full width to the xj, the mj should be restored to better than stock.

I think that's the plan. I am on the hunt for a 97+ XJ now (looked at a 2001 today but they wanted too much for it, they are going to send it to auction but if it doesnt sell then I have first dibs on it at a very, very good price). I'm planning on swapping the axles from the XJ over to the MJ (well built 8.8/D30) with the rear leaf springs and shackles. Then probably a three-link for the front end. Maybe a matching front bumper as my XJ too, but it depends on the $$$ when the time comes.

did you need them for your rig buddy?

I put a door in the dumpster at my apartment and a homeless guy dragged it out and put it in his shopping cart. Maybe he was going to use it to make a set of half doors? lol
