In other news, I just picked up another Eaton axle. Pretty sure it's another ho72, and I suspect it's a ball bearing version. It's got a load bolt, and it's 4.56.

My plan is to chop the tubes off and re-tube it to build a front housing. I'm going to use the knuckles and shafts from my super duty 60, and ball joint eliminators. Should be fun. Just something to tinker with since I already had the Ford axle and wasn't feeling like converting it to passenger drop. Cole has been building a high pinion 9 inch front and it got me thinking about doing the ho72/60 front.

So much win. I wish we could get a fabricated housing for an Eaton.

I saw a pair for sale on pirate several years ago. It looked like a ruff stuff housing, but they probably made it themselves.

Cole has built a complete 9" housing, but it's pretty time consuming. I think I can build off the factory center and save some time and effort. It'll get a similar cover and shave to what I did on my rear. We'll use 3.5" tubes (thinking 1/4", but we'll see). I'd like it to not be insanely heavy. Re-tubing is mainly so I'll have an easy option to run inner seals, and match up the size for the inner C's from Spicer.

Don't expect fast progress. Lol

I have been wanting to build a front 9". One of these days I'll find a cheap 9" to kick that off. I'm looking forward to seeing your build.

I bought my Eaton off NC4x4 for $100 about 8 years ago.

Well, my back is out again (probable blown disk again) so I haven't done anything more than think about the Jeep. Once I can stand/sit without so much pain I'll be back at it.

I'm planning to get some different seats that I think will be a bit more supportive. I've loved the Corbeau Ultras. They are really comfortable, but for the sake of my spine I'm looking at a higher end seat. So far I'm leaning towards the PRP Podiums, but I've also thought about their composite seats. Once I get closer to being able to use them I'll call PRP to talk pros and cons.

And once again, in other news... Since I can't play Jeeps, I picked up a Redcat Camo x4 to mess with. I kinda wanted a crawler, but I also wanted to go fast. I've been tweaking and tuning on it the last couple weeks. Right now I'm getting ready to make some aluminum skins (cardboard templates on now), and waiting on a Tamiya yj body I ordered so I can give it a Jeep hood and grill.

Btw, this thing rips. Way faster out of box than I expected.

Sucks about the back. Hopefully it heals soon.

That's a pretty sweet car. I've thought about picking something up myself so I can play in the woods around my house.

Aluminum skins are done. They turned out sweet. I can't wait for the yj body to show up. Hopefully I can make it fit like I've got it planned in my head.

Some assembly and light trimming required. Lol

This body is really detailed. It's almost a shame to cut it up.... Almost.

Those Tamaya bodies are nice. We have one for the rebuild of my son's RC Crawler. Mine is all steel though.

That's awesome. Much more "to scale" than mine will be. Your chassis actually resembles my cage pretty well. lol

Once I get this fitting, the next thing I would like to get are the Traxxas method beadlocks and axial 2.2 treps. Just gotta convince myself I want them $135 worth. Lol

It is a little nuts to buy tires and wheels for a toy... lol. I have about a grand in my little Jeep. When we were competing with them we were running with guys that had 4 or 5 grand in theirs. I just liked that my thin metal panels would dent just like the real thing.
