Denver Jeep

EDIT : I have unofficially changed the name of this build due to the fact that I will not be bed-lining the exterior of my Jeep. Honestly I don't think I will even bed-line the tub at this point. The goal of this build is to have a capable, simple, thought out build. January of this year I had no idea about this forum. I've been 4 wheeling since I was 16 and can't believe I never found this site earlier ! But now that I have it has really changed my perception of jeeps.

So I have been contemplating the idea of bed-lining my TJ for the last few months. I have searched around this forum and found only a few bed-lined, many more flat black which isn't what I wanted.

I just bought some hard doors for $200 so I though I would start a build thread, and eventually bed-line the entire jeep before winter hits hard in CO.

History...
I bought my 1997 Jeep TJ stock in 2005. Installed a 3" black diamond lift within the first year and put on some 33 BFG A/T. Upgrades were slow as I had just graduated high school and was headed to college.

So over the next few years I slowly added warn differential skids front and rear, swaybar disco's, recovery points, and picked up tow straps. Gong to college at CU Boulder had the perk of living very close to the mountains and I took full advantage of it. I went camping and wheeling as often as possible.

A year before I graduated (2008) I didn't have any money, was slammed with school, my puppy, and working to pay rent so nothing really changed on my jeep.

I finally graduated in 2009 and boy was I happy. Having more money than ever to spend, my jeep was getting built a lot faster than previous years. I added Bilstein 5100 shocks, chopped my front bumper and added a warn 8274 winch, got some custom sliders, put on BFG KM2's, and re-geared to 4.56's.

Next on the build...
SYE/CV (It's time to get rid of the T-case drop)
Home-ade front flat fenders.EDIT: went with MCE flat fenders
Rear corner armor.
35's and necessary upgrades.EDIT: put on 35 KM2's

Pics of bed-lining will come soon, priming starts today. EDIT: This idea was trashed

Just ordered MCE generation I flat fenders. The wheels for 35's is finally in motion.

Bed-liner project is on hold until I get the fenders installed...Doors are still waiting to be painted.

Your Jeep looks nice the way it is. I'm not a fan of MCE's or bedlined exteriors. I hope you like it. Is something wrong with the factory paint?

There can only be one answer for the bedliner to use...Monstaliner!

I'm going to do my XJ in ML white; I like the idea of an impenetrable surface on the exterior. Especially when salt is a factor.

MCEs aren't too bad but I know a guy around here that had a bedlined TJ and it looked like ***. I would save the bedliner for the inside, outside it just looks bad. Especially with how hard it's going to be to keep clean.

Funny you guys say that...I just got talked out of bed-lining it yesterday. Dropped of the doors for white paint today.

Sorry for anyone who checked out this build solely for bed-liner.

Fenders are in the mail. My plan is to paint them white to match the body. Now I just need to decide if I want corner armor with or without flares. Any ideas?...photos of your setups are always appreciated.

I've used dupli-color on both of my bumpers and sliders. It's held up better than I ever expected. So thats what I was going to use before I decided to cancel the DIY paint job.

Progress on jeep today:
Ordered Advance Adapters SYE kit.

Then:
Went to jenny creek to wheel and ran into a trail traffic jam. 10 4x4's already backed up when I got there. It was a real mess. A Land Rover blew his engine and was blocking the trail. (photo 1)

Then I ran into a super clean yellow bed-lined CJ. We decided to explore a spur road instead of wait on the Land Rover to get winched off the trail. (photo 2)

Made it to Yankee Doodle Lake for some fly fishing and caught a few brook trout. (photo 3)

Headed back to Denver Via Rollins Pass (photo 4)

Found some rear tube fenders on craigslist for $100, going to pick them up tomorrow. The low price will give me time to save up for some serious corner armor in the future.

Over the next few days I will strip the powder coat, touch up the welds (the photo looks like they are smitty), grind smooth and repaint white to match.
