AzDevilYJ's build thread... finally

I was thinking of building a cold air intake rather than using the old school air cleaner. Itís crazy what companies think a plastic tube is worth.

This is an intake hat from a Chrysler magnum engine. I think a v8 ZJ but I donít remember exactly. I was playing around with this intake style when I first did the v8 swap.

It doesnít fit perfect, Iíll have to trim out the inside a bit to get it to sit on the throttle body.

This has worked well for me... Stock air cleaner, some 4" exhaust tubing, and a **** pipe rubber connector.

Thatís where I thought I had bought it before as well, but no dice. Maybe new packaging is making me overlook it, but last I saw it was still blue can that said airplane paint stripper in big letters

I might have my old factory air cleaner around the garage somewhere, although I remember reading they were more restrictive than a traditional air cleaner, thatís why everyone likes to flip the cap on them

I got off work a little late, but I put a final coat on one fender, and put nutserts in it rather than fighting for the nut on the backside

Got my oil in the mail. This is one of the recommended oils from Blueprint Engines for the first 500 miles. Then no synthetic oils until 5000 miles

Decided to paint the air cleaner base and lid black, and picked up a Quiklatch for the air cleaner. Also stopped at harbor freight and grabbed a power steering pulley puller.

This Quiklatch is one of those things that brings me lots of joy. Trying to get the wing nut on and off when the engine is hot and/or when the prefilter is on, has always been one of those stupid pains in the a$$. Especially as much time as I spend under the hood. Problem solved.

You could get an Outerwears pre filter to keep the big dust out of the K&N filter.

I run one I use the one that covers the entire assembly rather than just the filter. I wanted to get one of those ďxtremeĒ lids but Iím scared of water getting past the prefilter even tho they claim hydrophobic
