72 Jeepster Commando rebuild

Well back story on the rig...I purchased it back in 1998 bone stock. Built it with 1 tons...Caddy 500 big block...39.5 Boggers. Ended up selling it around 2010 when we had kids and times were tough. A good buddy of mine saw it on Craigslist and said if I didnt buy it back he was going to grab it. The rig was beat and ALL my good parts were gone. But...I felt I needed to bring it back to life and going it cheap. No plans to make it perfect as I plan to do hardcore trails with it. Just a simple Matte black paint job and beefy parts. Once I got it home I started selling off all the old parts the prior owner installed to make way for what I wanted to do with it. The current motor is a mild 350 and will work for for now. Plans down the road will be a 6.0 LS. The trans/tcase/axles/tires/wheels were all sold. Found a killer deal on a set of Solid Industries HP Dana 60's and used 40" BFG KM2's. Springs are some YJ Full Traction 0 lift springs. For wheels I bit the bullet and got some KMC Beadlocks. So now its currently a roller and will be focusing on getting brakes working and drivetrain completed. Here is a PIC in current state...

Thanks in that pic only the engine was in it. Just installed the trans/converter and it dropped 5/8" of an inch lol. Lots of weight to add so should keep dropping.

Over the weekend got the trans (TH400) and converter installed. Pulled the old proportioning valve out(disc/drum style) and installing a disc/disc one. Once brakes are done will move on the the tcase set up. I am going to be running a Northwest Fab Blackbox(2.72) and flipped Dana 300(2.62). This set up is small and compact for the narrow frame of the Jeepster and lots of gear choices. Final low is 7.12 to 1 in low/low. Still need to get the HD output in the rear for the 300.

I like that you got it back again. very Cool! Good luck with your build.
