Price: $299.99
Pros: It works, appears to be water proof, have had it submerged many of times, will move alot more than 8.5k
Cons: Can't think of one
Recommended? Yes

Comments: This little winch just wont die, it has saved my *** several times, in addition ive been able to use it to prevent body damage. It somehow managed to pull out a chevy 6x6 extended cab long bed with a 21 foot 5th wheel camper buried up to the frame in mud, although i did have to tie the TJ to a fullsize parked behind me to keep from moving, but that little winch pulled it off with no snatch block. Point is you will not be disappointed with this winch, ive had it for 4 years and it never ceases to impress me, IF it ever dies i will not hesitate to buy another.

Price: $300.00
Pros: Low cost strong winch
Cons: This is just a winch, with no extra bells and whistles.
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I have been happy with this winch though it has not been used much. I have never used it on the trail because it has not been needed yet. I have used it to move the Jeep when the engine blew. I have used it around the yard for a few things.

I bought it because it was $300 and a guy pulled me out of a trench with his. It had the power that was needed. I might consider paying more to get a winch with an air pump as well.

I had difficulty mounting the solenoid in the center and had to mount it on the side.

Pros: Cheap
Cons: Everything
Recommended? No

Comments: My 8500 Rugged Ridge winch came with a bad solenoid that assembled improperly. It failed the first time I used it. They warranty replaced the solenoid. I had one succesful pull the next time out, and 20 minutes later it broke again. It took off on its own (spooling in), with the remote disconnected, and snapped the hook/bent the fairlead. I had to quickly disconnect my battery and remove power from the winch. This could have been a HUGE safety issue. Terrible, terrible product.

Pros: Stainless steel components to prevent rust. Heavy duty and well made. Fast line speed for quick spooling when not under load.
Cons: Haven't found any yet
Recommended? Yes

Comments: I just installed mine, but I bought it after using two others over the past couple of months. I have seen them make at least 50 pulls over the past few weeks and they have performed flawlessly. I guide with a group of rock crawlers and we are forever winching vehicles out of trouble.

I also liked the fact that they used stainless steel construction to prevent rust.

Update: I have used the winch several times now, yesterday pulled a JK 4 door rubicon and a TJ rubicon out of a stream bed where they were buried up to their rockers (both lifed with at least 33's). Winch works well and I seem to be able to pull almost without limit on my stock alternator and 550 CCA battery. I obviously leave the ole YJ running, but it's electrical system can handle pulling out these bloated pigs.

Still pulling strong. I have righted flopped buggys and continue to pull stuck vehicles and trees with no problems.
