Question on which Subwoofer to purchase, already have amp.

Guys/Gals,

Have an Apline MRD-M605 collecting dust from a previous vehicle.

I've decided to tackle the project of installing a subwoofer under the seat in the next month.

The question I have is do I go with the Pioneer TS-SW2501S2 (Single 2 ohm) or Pioneer TS-SW2501S4 (Single 4ohm)?

The amp specifications are 400 watts x 1 at 4 ohms (600 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms).

Both subs are 300 watts rms so I figured I'd go with the 2ohm sub so the amplifier has to work less or is this the wrong theory?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm not the best in the audio department.

The best bet for wranglers are bazooka toobs they have a internal amp and a low profile and they hit hard

You're probably going to want the 4 ohm...it's rated for 300 watts rms so the amp will be a lil overpowered @400. Set your gain properly and be mindful with the bass level/volume all should be well.an alpine type r shallow would be a better match.

Higgins must be joking...For a bazooka tube's ability to be worthwhile it needs to be mounted close to the listener...somewhere like the passenger footwell or right behind the rear seat. Or have a hardtop that never comes off.

iPhone app user; excuse typos...thanx.

Thanks for all the input guys. I know there is a limited amount of shallow mount subs that will fit under the rear seat which is why I chose that particular sub.

Thanks Gily, yeah there's no way I'm going with a bazooka tube.

Actually used to have a 12" apline type r together with this amp and it was awesome. I know the shallow mount wont be as good, but I'll look into it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Memphis does in fact make a shallow mount 10". The sound quality of their speakers is great.. Just food for thought.
