Ive really been lookin at either the Uniden 520 or the 538. Seems like the only difference is that the 538 has a front fire speaker. If i can find a decent price on the 538 ill snag it.

Ive decided my Jeep has needs..and like me...if those needs arent satisfied promptly i get inpatient, grumpy and pissed. So i gotta keep my Xj nice and happy by buying it lots of stuff.

I was wonderin too...i read in a thread somewhere that if you use a cigarette lighter plug in as a power source itll hurt the performace of the cb? I just think itd make it easier for me since that way i wont forgot to turn the radio off after i get out of my jeep and kill the battery.

Any truth to that statement?

There is a lot of signal noise associated with using the cigarette lighter outlet, you will get a cleaner signal by wireing directly to the batt. With that said, I currently have mine wired to the outlet, as a concequence I need to turn my squelch up a little higher to override the noise. This can cause your range to be diminished.
