AM/FM Radio Reception

I have a 2015 JGC Laredo...last year I hit the garage door as it was going up and scuffed my sharkfin antenna, no crack, not broken there is only a scuff. I have had NO problems with the radio until last week....my Free XM weekend reception was very clear but unless I am about 5 miles from the radio station I have no AM or FM! I am out of warranty due to miles... I love my jeep but can also not afford to replace the radio at this time. Does any one have any other thoughts?

I doubt it's the radio, it's probably the shark fin.

That antenna has multiple elements in it. You could have damaged the AM/FM antenna and not the GPS/Sat radio antenna or the Cell antenna.

I doubt that sharkfin antenna has the am-fm antenna inside it, they're normally used just for GPS, cellular, and satellite radio reception. They're too small for good AM-FM reception which are at much lower frequencies that require a bigger antenna. If you look closely you'll probably be able to find the AM-FM antenna hidden somewhere else, perhaps embedded in the front or rear windshield.

When you have a choice, buy American made.
