2009 Patriot Amplifier electrics

I recently had my jeep cleaned inside and out as it was filthy... it was shampooed etc.. afterwards I noticed the stereo wasn't working, I had this happen once before and it was water that got onto the amplifier plug dried it and everything was fine again. so this time I did the same and sure enough the sound cam back on, but 2 mins later the stereo was dead and all the lights came on the dash and the gauges stopped working. Now when I unplug the larger of the 2 plugs on the amp it seems fine but no stereo.... if I plug it in a cant start the car and all lights on dash again... I have checked all the fuses (small tab) and they are good, I have disconnected the battery! but still the same problem... any ideas??? I didn't check the cartridge fuses they look ok but not sure what they look like when they are blown??

How can the wiring to the amplifier affect the ignition circuit?
