Really need help ax5 to ax15

I have a 92 yj that had an ax5 that went out on me so I figured this was a good time to swap it for an ax15 using the advanced adapter kit. I've had it driving and installed a few times now but keeping having to drop it because there's this ticking sound that I can really hear in 3,4, and 5th gear. It can be heard when pushing on the gas or heard louder when the clutch is pressed in but after the transmission seems to slow down from speed it disappears.. This is only when moving that I can hear it. I've replaced the pilot bearing, throwout bearing, clutch, pressure plate and I got a rebuilt retransmission after the noise persisted awhile. There is a burning smell that I believe might be the clutch but I read it might do that while breaking in but it's been around 400 miles still with this smell.

Is it possible my clutch isn't fully disengaging?

A new clutch does not smell when being broken in. Something is wrong. Perhaps the throw out bearing is not completely releasing or is bottoming on the trans.

Your terminology is confusing. Do you mean you have had the trans and clutch assembly totally removed and reinstalled a few times already and still can not find the problem?

Yeah. I've taken both assemblies out multiple times but I do believe the problem to be the clutch not fully disengaging but I don't know how to fix this issue
