Pull Engine

Ok, this may be a dumb question, but I don't know...Pulling engine out to rebuild, and have everything disconnected/loose, except for 1 starter bolt that is stripped. It is a b*tch to work on, but I have about 2-3 plans of attack to get it off, but my main concern is to get the block to the shop to rebuild. My question is, can you pull engine with starter in place? I would rather get the block to the shop and work on the starter bolt in the meantime, or if it comes out with the block, the easier it will be. Anyways, any insight will be greatly appreciated.

The starter is bolted to the bell housing. As long as you're pulling the transmission/bell housing with the engine, the starter will come out with them. If you're trying to pull the engine and leave the tranny/bell housing in the Jeep, you need to get the starter off first.

Might help to post what you are working on. What part of the bolt is stripped? If the head is just cut it off remove starter and use a visegrip to remove it. Can also try hammering on a smaller size socket. If the thread is see if you can get a small chisel in between the starter and bell housing then try loosening the bolt.

First thanks for all responding, and second of all, my apologies, yes what I'm working on would be a big help.

My first reply still applies, as it would with most Jeeps.
