Hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear

Hi guys. I searched through some other threads but couldn't seem to find what I was looking for so...I have a 2006 Wrangler LJ. It's an automatic 4x4, with 109,000 miles. I've only owned it for a couple months, but the two previous owners seemed to have maintained it relatively well.

Anyway, just last week I had a new Cam Shaft Sensor installed when the original malfunctioned. Since getting the jeep back from my mechanic, the automatic transmission shifts hard (jerks) into second gear from first. It's only during acceleration. Also, it's only the first 3 or 4 shifts after the engine has off for extended periods (hours). After the initial 3 or 4 hard shifts, and the engine seems to have warmed up, it shifts smoothly as it should.

Does anyone know if this could be related to the Cam Shaft Sensor, or is this a whole separate issue, or the indication of a larger looming issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, so I can be prepared for what to expect from my mechanic. Thanks everyone!

Tim
