Engine Overheating

I have a 2003 Grand Cherokee and I have had some issues with the engine overheating when the car is in park, or stopping at a red light, and similar situations. Im in the marine corps, and recently moved to jacksonville nc. Before I moved (literaly the same week) I had to have the radiator and relay replaced because the radiator blew while my buddy was dropping it of at the airport for me. Cost me $900 to get fixed, and now im running into the same problem, and i cant take it back to the dealership who fixed it because i'm 750 miles away. any ideas/suggestions?

Yes, thermostat's seem to be a cheap culprit of many overheating problems, maybe b/c of the prolonged non use could be causing it to sieze, maybe use one of those prestone additives that helps lubricate everything in the cooling system could help
