Engine numbers

Hello folks!

I am new to Jeep Forum and bought my first Jeep recently.

It is a 1984 CJ 7 body with what I discovered today a AMC 360 V8. It was sold as a 304 AMC V8.
I am looking at replacing the rear seal and trying to verify what I have, to order the proper parts.

I have Found numbers on front of motor just below valve cover passenger side stamped in block.(1 C7 62) what do these numbers mean. I was told when I bought it it was a crate motor put in around 2004. There is no tag on the valve cover and I have found no other numbers other than the 360 stamped on the engine black on passenger side by the engine mount.

Anyone have an idea what the 1 C7 62 mean?

Thank you in advance for your time.

Maybe Pics of the numbers, complete pics of the engine itself, showing Distributor Rotor placements, etc. Firing orders would help some too.

I will help if I can,

And also, welcome to the boards!

That number is likely from the shop that did the reman on the heads. You need to look for the casting number on the block to get any information on the block. But, all of the AMC 360's used the same 2 piece rear main seal so there is only 1 option out there to order.

80 CJ-5, 74 CJ-6, 56 CJ-5

Appreciate the input. Going to put her up on friends lift to swap out seal and will continue looking for further numbers at that time.

Thanks again and Happy 4th!!
