Dana 35 repair or replace ?

How bad is the Dana 35 really ? I've seen so many mixed reviews on it I can't really form an opinion yet. I currently own a 98 zj , in line 6 , 4 inch lift on 33x10.5x15's. I just blew the spider gears and wondering if it's worth just tossing a $300 lock right in it , or scraping it all together and save towards a ford 8.8 or some other 1 ton.

Personally would probably never buy a jeep with one in the rear, but if for some reason ended up with one would not spend dollar one on it.
