Can Syked Tuners make a manual swapped '97 ZJ forget its automatic?

Looking at buying my brother's AX15 swapped '97 ZJ. Problem is I live in an area that tests emissions, so I can't have the thrown codes and CEL that come with the PCM trying to find a slushbox that doesn't exist. I have tried to contact FlyinRyan through his site, instagram, and facebook with no reply. I tried contacting Syked through their website as well. Again, no luck. There's a video on youtube showing the software has the ability to change transmission settings, but I don't know which vehicle they were able to do that on, or if the software's capabilities vary from vehicle to vehicle.

So I have come to you, Jeepforum. Anyone know the answer to this? If Syked can't do it, does anyone know who/what, if anything can?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: maybe this would be better in the ZJ section, or the advanced technical section?

I really hope flyin Ryan is still in business. I was banking on using him to tune a future stroker for my ZJ and a future AX-15 swap reprogramming since I also can’t have a CEL and pass emissions.

There are a few workarounds for the CEL with an AX-15 swap, however. You can use the PCM out of a OBDII manual XJ or TJ. But you will need FSMs with Pin outs / wiring diagrams for both your ZJ and the vehicle the PCM is from. IIRC you have to switch around a couple wires in the connector.

So you ***CAN*** swap in the ECU from a manual XJ and all it takes is moving a couple of wires?

Everything else I've read makes it sound like they're totally incompatible.

Im no expert but I read a post on Mallcrawlin stating that. They said that a few pins on the PCM connectors are in different places. As far as I know JTEC PCMs of that era are not that different. Despite what the TJ guys will say TJs, XJs, and ZJs are all very very similar.

Edit: A little more info on the TJ PCMs. 05-06 have 4 connectors and Rubicons also got different PCM for the locker function, so a non rubicon M/T TJ PCM from 97-04 should work.

I guess what I should be more worried about is gauge cluster inputs. I would definitely like the instruments to work.

Just found this thread containing potentially damning information about swapping ECUs: https://comancheclub.com/topic/32940-99-xj-ecu-in-zj/

Apparently the ZJ my brother has lacks the security system (and therefore the BCM?) and it only came on the ones with the computer readout in the console. Anyone got any info or ideas on that?
