Best sealants for cooling system today?

It's been a long time since I have had to repair a Jeeps cooling system.
What are the best sealants to apply to the gaskets to make sure they do not leak under pressure?
In my day it was form-a-gasket but now there are many different types of silicone sealers.
What do you owners use?

Do you mean the gaskets for the water pump and thermostat housing?
Guessing you mean for a '98 XJ like it says in your profile
Don't use any.
Do not use a cheap paper thermostat housing gasket.
Do not use the paper gasket supplied with the water pump.
Buy FelPro gaskets for each of those.
Make sure everything is cleaned up good.
Make sure your thermostat housing is not cracked.
Be careful when you put the thermostat in.
Making sure it is in there right and does not slip out of place when you go to torque down the housing.
You can crack the housing if it does.
The black tube will have some thread sealant on it when you buy it.
I put a new thermostat housing on my '00 XJ when I did mine.
Used this for the coolant sensor on it.

Also used it on the new black tube cause some of the red thread sealant was worn off.
Be careful when positioning the new black tube on the water pump. You have to do it when off the vehicle.
I though I had mine just right but when I put it all together noticed it was a little close to the valve cover.
I let it ride but if I ever have to remove my valve cover it might not clear. Hope to never find out. LOL.
