4wd transfer case busted bushing quick fix!!

Hey J33P P33PS.

This forum has been really helpful, so in an effort to contribute towards the knowledge base, here is a documented explanation of how to fix this problem.

If your 4WD shifter is loose, and/or stuck in 4WDH, 4WDL or 2WDH, it could be a few things. The best way to identify whether or not it's the bushing that holds the shifter to the transfer rod/cable, pop off your center console. On my '11 JK Sport it was pretty easy. You do not have to remove the main shifter knob, but you will need to remove the 4WD shifter knob.

Stand on your seats, grip it with both your hands, and pull with all the might in your body, BUT BE CAREFUL NOT TO PUNCH YOURSELF IN THE FACE! Or the nuts, lol. The shift knob will pop off.

Remove the center console, zoom in to the 4WD shifter and check out the gasket that fits over the nipple that connects the shifter to the rod. You'll probably even see the busted bushing deep in that tray. It's typically just a finicky fingering to get the two looped again, and then a zip tie will hold until you buy the part HERE.
