I need help deciding on an amp.

I know nothing about amps so I'm pretty clueless. I have 6.5" Infinity 6012si all the way around and they need more power than my Pioneer deck can provide. In the future I will most likely run just an 8" sub in the rear panel because I need the cargo space so I'd like to plan ahead.

The speakers have 2-50 watts RMS (150 watts peak power).

I'd like to keep my budget kinda low ($150ish or less) so going used is not out of the option. I just want something to provide adequate power to the speakers and work well with one future sub. I don't listen to rap/hip-hop so it doesn't have to set off car alarms, but I listen to rock so I need something that can provide a punch.

And if anyone can suggest a sub to go with the amp that'd be great too.

Should I be looking for a 4-channel amp just to power the speakers and get a separate amp to power the sub? My deck has 2 sets of RCA inputs.

I dont know that much about it, but i think you need a channel for every speaker you are hooking up

oh and i think it is best to have a separate amp for the sub at least that how i see everyone does it

you mean 2 sets of outputs right ? assuming I'm right it probly only has front and rear channels and left and right for each the front and rear channel. so in short yes you are looking for a 4 channel amp and when you finaly do decide to get a sub just use 2 y connectors like these

to split the rear channel and then go buy a cheap mono block (single channel) amp and a cheap 8' sub and you will be set

Yeah they are outputs. Sorry bout that. So in short, right now I should get a 4-channel amp to power my 4 speakers and then when I do get a sub I should get a mono-channel amp?

If you are only running 4 speakers you can also get a 2-channel amp. You dont have to only look at 4-channels.

Not meaning to hijack the thread but....I have the same situation, I would like a small sub to go in the rear panel to save space but I'm not sure where to place the amp. I thought I heard people placed it under the back seat. Would this work? I thought it might over heat. Any help would be great.
