Are you familiar to the XJ-R build? If not, google it. It was a pretty cool Cherokee that was lowered and set up to run a road course. And it was done on a budget. They but and notched the front axle to have more camber and to clear the oil pan. Ran shorter stiffer front springs in the front. They built bastard packs in the rear and went to a spring under axle setup. Since the XJ's are over, the only way to really get the rear end any lower without having inverted leaf springs is to swap to a spring under axle setup. This is the build thread. They also have a website somewhere that talks about it but this is what I could find on my phone during lunch.

Look at my white 'racejeep' on CF. Lowered to the bump stops and then cut them 1" for travel. There is a bunch more to it.
