Just came across this one from way back . Thought I'd share :

Goes around,comes around .
4WD gets one farther from help before getting stuck/breaking down.

Wheels and tires look good. Just curious though, why bother scribbling out the license plate? You display it to everyone on the roadÖ And anyone driving by your house could potentially get your plate, address, and Vin of the vehicle if they wanted it.

Thatís a good point, just always have I guess.

They are 235/75s, looks much better in person. They ended up being bigger than expected and the wheels stick out further. Iím going for cool looking but stock and comfy to daily drive.

Getting there slowly. The whole suspension needs new bushings and rear brakes need replaced.

What did you do to your XJ/MJ today?

And shocks too, might hit up Kolak on that.

I have a lower control arm I bought for my ZJ years ago but never used and went long arms instead. Gonna come in handy finally! Easier to just replace whole arms

Edit: ZJ lower arms are slightly longer

Installed factory tow hooks on my 90 XJ. Initially I thought I'd have to take off the front valence under the bumper. Turns out I was able to just remove the three 15mm bolts on the frame on each side, disconnect the foglights and remove the hoses on the vacuum tank in the bumper.
Installing the additional 1/2 x 3" bolts on the new brackets actually gave me more grief. I have the factory skidplate in front and the rubber splash shield still installed .
A two hour job turned into just under 4 with a run to the hardware store for a couple grade 8 bolts.

MJ has control arms, leaf spring and shackle bushings coming next week. After that itíll be shocks, steering stabilizer, track bar and sway bar upgrade from Kolak.

So in the meantime, this weekend will be ZJ weekend in the shop. Much needed. New heims for IRO steering and a MVF t case linkage to put in. Grease the long arms. Once the MJ is out of town worthy itíll be full focus on ZJ again! Track bar, winch and gas tank armor

I started getting a little lifter tick so I dosed the oil with some Seafoam ran 250mi. and tick is gone then changed valve cover gasket yesterday and the oil with a new batch of Royal Purple 10w30 and a shot of Rislone ZDDP and an oversized Wix filter runs smooth and no leaks YEH.

That just means my XJ gets way more second hand parts than my YJ ever did
